Brainstorming and Interview Junk

by on April 27, 2011

Attached are some pictures from our brainstorming last week. Eva and I decided to split into two teams.  She would work on the archival dimension of the project (i.e. finding news stories, talking to people who used to go here) while I would take on the interviewing dimension.

On a different topic, a few other activists and I met up and started working collectively on the project. My friends Ted and Liz came up with the idea for a UMD Collective Histories project earlier during the year. I was inspired by their idea for this project and am now working with them to compile as much data as possible. This Saturday, I and Ted interviewed three activists at the Student/Worker Solidarity BBQ at the CHUMbucket. We managed to get over an hour of footage.

This was the interview script we came up with:

Intro

  1. Name
  2. Groups
  3. Graduating year

Questions

  • What were some of the successes your group achieved? How did you achieve them?
  • What were some of the challenges you encountered? How did you adapt to them?
  • What was your greatest victory? Defeat? Regret? Satisfaction?
  • What is the coolest story you have?
  • How did you change during your time here?
  • How did the University change?
  • Who do you recommend listening to/watching/reading?
  • Why did you get involved in activism?
  • What would you like to see happen on campus or elsewhere in the next 3-5 years?
  • Discuss your approach towards activism (activist philosophy?)
