Mark Stencel, managing editor for digital news at National Public
Radio, gives an insider’s account of the ongoing transformation at NPR
as the radio network moves beyond audio into visual storytelling and
new forms of Internet and mobile journalism. Before joining NPR,
Stencel served as executive editor and deputy publisher at the
magazine and website, Governing, and was managing editor at
Congressional Quarterly. A reception starts at 5:00 p.m., followed by
a lecture in the Richard Eaton Theater of the Knight Hall Journalism
building at 5:30 p.m. The event is part of the “Multimedia News:
Behind the Scenes” speaker series at the Philip Merrill College of
